Homework part 1

Hey! Today I am going to talk about my homework part 1.  I decided to do a poster because it is easy to make and also I thought it would be a good idea to have a poster which shows lots of text and little images on it.

Homework part 2

Part 2 of my homework.  I decided I would do a front page of a website, a website advertising my photography work.

Template before I changed it

I didn't want to keep the template the same because otherwise that would be copying, and also it would be more personal and also I designed it so I created it by myself. The original doesn't have an interesting background

My version of the website...(after)

I decided I wanted to give my front page for the website some colour/funk as I was thinking of advertising my photography work.   The bright colours make it look very eye-catching and very bright.  I really like the background because I think it is really colourful and also it works well with the other colours on the page.

Examples of fonts

Hi guys! This blog entry today is about good and bad fonts.  I have uploaded different types of fonts and below them I have explained what I like about the particular font.  Enjoy reading :)

Good fonts

Example 1

This font is really interesting because I like how every letter/number has a curly in it. This font will make the logo more eye-catching, however it might be too curly and some of the letters don't need a curly added to it.
Example 2
This font is very plain and boring,  I wouldn't personally use this font for my logo but I put it in the good fonts category because it is very clear and easier to read.

Example 3

I really like this font because it is very funky and it is a 'disco-like' theme. This makes the font stand out more and also it causes the font to have a ‘funky-feel’ towards it.  I am thinking of using this font and maybe adding colour in each circle to give it a young look towards it.

Bad fonts

Example 1
This font is very un-clear and I feel that each letters has too much lines on them. For example, the letter 'O' normally has no lines on it but then this font makes the 'O' has lines - I feel this is very unusual. Also, I feel that this font is not right for my logo because I want the font to be very clear and eye-catching, so this makes the members of public look at my logo.

Example 2

This font isn't very good.  I think this because they are very hard to
and also I feel that personally this type of font won't work for my logo.  This is because my logo design is targeted at members of the public who are interested in Photography, or others that are just researching artists for their art work.

Contrast - reseach (excisting logos)

Hi guys! Today I am going to talk about some logos that have either good or bad contrast.  Bad contrast will include poor lighting, dark colours and boring font.  Good contrast includes bright colours, good lighting and funky font.

Good contrast

2012 Olympic Games logo

This logo is an example of good contrast.  This is because it includes bright colours for example, bright pink fills the numbers and then bright yellow outlines the numbers.
I also really like the font in this logo because  it is very funky and different.  For my logo design I have used a lot of colour because it catches the publics attention.

Apple logo

This logo to the left is Apple's old logo before they changed it to all white.  I think that this logo is much better than the current logo because this one is very colourful which makes it stand out a lot.

This logo is similar to my CRE logo because I added colour to my logo to make it more colourful and eye-catching.

Bad contrast

FedEx logo

This logo has a a poor example of contrast.  This is because the font is exactly the same which makes it look very boring, and also the colours (purple and orange) aren't the brightest colours I've seen in logos.

EOS logo

I think that this logo has bad contrast because even though the font is very different (I like how the O is presented) but overall the font in this logo is okay.  I think it is quite plain I feel that the logo could be more exciting.

Contrast - reseach (paintings)

Hi guys! Today I am going to talk about two paintings that include contrast.  One of them has bad contrast overall but does include good contrast too, and then the other painting has good contrast. I am going to talk about the colours in each painting and what contrast is shown in the painting.

Mona Lisa

The painting to the left of this paragraph was painted by Leonardo Da Vici in 1503/06. This painting is roughly 511 years old.

The colours on Mona Lisa's dress are mostly dark which makes the painting less eye-catching than other paintings.  So this means that the contrast isn't that good.

However, the background is a lot more colourful than the dress.  The background includes the colours green and blue which are a lot brighter than dark brown.

The green/blue background contrasts against Mono Lisa's dress because the background stands out a lot more than the dark dress.

Girl with a Pearl Earring

This painting to the left was painted by Jan Vermeer in 1665, this was painted around 349 years ago.

This painting includes a mixture of colours, this is because the hand-band the girl is wearing includes bright blue and yellow. The blue and yellow contrasts the black background.

The girl's skin in the painting is very pale so this makes her skin very bright and also her red lipstick stand out a lot.

Logo designing using contrast (CE)

Hi guys! I'm back and today I am going to talk about using contrast to the final image (CE logo). Below this paragraph is the logo I am going to change and experiment with contrast.

CE logo before I added contrast

When I was adding contrast to my logo, I thought I would change the colour of the letters slightly to make them brighter and bolder.  I really like the shade of pink and blue I chose for the updated logo design.  The background contrasts with the letters because the background is a brighter shade of green and blue.  This makes the letters stand out more.  I also really like the background because the two colours mix together and this makes it look really creative.  Colour is an example of contrast.

Another example of contrast is font.  I changed the font in my updated logo because I think this logo is bolder and also it is clearer.  This makes the logo stand out more and grabs people's attention to my logo.

Here is the final image, I decided to remove the numbers above because I feel they are a distraction.

Logo designing using contrast (CRE)

Hi guys! I'm back and today I am going to talk about using contrast to one of my final images. I decided to use the scrabble inspired logo.  Below this paragraph is the logo I am going to change and experiment with contrast.

            Before experimenting with contrast

Contrast

Contrast means the state of being strikingly different from something else in juxtaposition or close association.

Different types of contrast...

  1. Size
  2. Brightness
  3. Colour
  4. Font
  5. Shape

For my logo I decided to experiment with colour and size.  For colour I wanted to make it very funky and eye-catching, this is because it will grab people's attention.

I changed the colour of 'C, R and E' because I wanted them to be brighter so they can stand out more.  The rest of the letters in my logo are still black.
Another example of colour contrast is changing the colour of the background, I changed mine to yellow.  This is because yellow is also a very bright colour so it makes it very eye-catching.  Size is also an type of contrast and I used it in my updated logo. I increased the size for letters C, R and E because they are my initials and I want to make my initials eye-catching and powerful.  I kept the other letters in my logo the same size but at least the size is average so you can still read it clearly.

Below this statement is how I developed my logo using contrast.  I used Adobe PhotoShop for editing my logo, I screenshotted every step I did (in total there was 44 steps) and then finally I saved them into a folder and added all the sccreenshots to Movie Maker and made an animate movie.

Below this paragraph is my finish logo using contrast. I think the contrast logo looks a lot better and brighter. I'm very happy with this contrast version of my logo design. XD

Final logo designs

Hi guys!! Today I am showing you my 2 final logo designs and I will do an explanation why I chose them.

Design 1

I chose this logo as one of my final designs because I think it is very different and a funky way of presenting my full name.  I decided to add colour to my initials (C.R.E) because it make them stand out more, and also it lets the logo be more colourful instead of all black.  I really like the font I chose because it is very similar to the font they used for Calvin Klein.  When I saw the logo I thought the font made it stand out more and it is a very cool font.  I got my inspiration from the board game ‘Scrabble’.  This is because I really like how each word, you can form another word within the first word.

Design 2

I chose this logo as my other final design.  This is because I really like the idea and also using scrabble pieces as my inspiration I thought it looked very funky.  I also added colour just to the letters C and E but not the numbers above.  I changed the colour of my initials to my favourite colours (pink and blue).  It was also good that pink and blue go together so that makes my 2nd final design stand out a lot.  I got my inspiration from the board game ‘Scrabble’.  However, I decided to use the idea of using the scrabble letters and adding the numbers above the letter too.

Logo design

Hi guys!! Today's blog is all about me designing different logo designs and then once I found one I really like, I will develop it more.  I developed some by adding colour, or just purely changing the font to make it more interesting.
Hope you enjoy looking at some of my designs

logo designing - reseach

Hi guys, today I am talking about some existing logos and I am going to describe what I like about the logo, and some features I might want to add to my own logo design.

Logo designing - research

Chanel

I really like this logo because I find it clever that the letter ‘C’ is in the logo twice, but it is just flipped round.  It is like a mirror image of the letter ‘C’. It is very creative but unusual at the same time - that is why I like it.

EA sports

I love the font in this logo because it is very bold and ‘in your face’. I also like how the letters join up. I also like how the letter E looks different than normal, which makes this logo very unique and creative.

Calvin Klein

I think this logo is really clever and really interesting.  This is because the ‘C’ is small and then the ‘K’ is bigger, so the letters aren’t different size – I find this a very clever idea so I might have a go at a logo like this using my initials.

Louis Vuitton

This Louis Vuitton logo is also very fascinating because I love the idea that both letters over-lap each other.  I really like the font in this logo, it is the same to the 'Calvin Klein' font, I am thinking of using a font like this in my own logo.
